Position Type: Full‑Time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: A rotating shift pattern of week 1: 5.45 – 13.30 Monday, 5.30 – 13.30 Tuesday to Friday and week 2: 13.20 – 21.10 Monday to Thursday and 13.20 – 21.00 Friday
Role Overview
As a Trainee Digicon Operator, you will be trained to support and operate digital finishing equipment, producing finished labels in line with company procedures. Under the guidance of experienced operators, you will learn how to run machinery safely and efficiently while maintaining high quality standards. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long‑term career within the print and packaging industry.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Learn to operate digital finishing equipment to produce finished labels in compliance with company operating procedures
- Support experienced Digicon Operators to ensure machinery runs efficiently, safely, and within quality standards
- Assist with press setup, changeovers, and day‑to‑day operation, working towards reducing downtime
- Follow training on quality control, paperwork completion, and job traceability requirements
- Learn how to maximise material utilisation and minimise waste, including substrates and inks
- Ensure machines are left in a safe and tidy condition at the end of each shift, reporting any issues clearly
- Adhere to all company systems and procedures including Health & Safety, ISO 9001, BRC accreditations, and documentation standards
- Gain understanding of press specifications and technical details required to produce jobs accurately
- Participate in continuous improvement activities within the press area and wider site
- Carry out general duties as required, including packing, sheeting, and assisting with other production tasks
Required Skills & Experience
- Good verbal communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions accurately
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a desire to develop technical skills
- Basic IT literacy and confidence learning new systems
- Previous experience in printing or manufacturing is an advantage but not essential, as full training will be provided
- An interest in digital finishing equipment (e.g. ABG, BAR, Grafotronic) is desirable
